Interferon FAQs
Q: Level of endotoxin?
A: Endotoxin levels are <1 EU/µg
Q: The difference between carrier protein and carrier-free?
A: Carrier protein (PBS with 0.1% BSA) was added to provide extra stability to the sample. However, in certain applications such as in vivo injection, conjugation, or surface binding, carrier may interfere.
Q: Why is human interferon beta (product # 11410-2) shipped in acetic acid?
A: Acetic acid is used to prevent aggregation of interferon beta proteins.
Q: For interferon beta, what should I use for dilution?
A: Culture medium supplemented with serum. Interferon beta proteins are unstable at diluted concentrations. Unless formulation work has been done to verify stability, do not dilute carrier-free solution to protein concentration below 100 µg/ml.
Q: What are the common conversion factors for interferons?
A:
Inteferon Alpha
Human Alpha 2A ~3-5 pg/unit
Mouse Alpha A ~10-20 pg/unit
Interferon Beta
Human ~3-5 pg/unit
Mouse ~2-50 pg/unit
Interferon Gamma
Human ~100pg/unit
Mouse ~100pg/unit
Rat ~200 pg/unit
